Sudbury Data Recovery

It goes without saying that your data can be in danger when you least expect it. Viruses, worms, hackers, and Internet bots are out to steal or at least corrupt our data.

That doesn’t even cover half of the disasters awaiting your data. Equipment failure and accidental corruption are huge factors as well.

We’re able to actually go inside the drive and to either repair the drive or recover it..

Using a local service right here in Sudbury means you can be back on the road to productivity fast.

Data Recovery and Costs

Data recovery from hard drives is attempted in steps. Each step has a different cost associated with it.

Step One – Software based data recovery

This is done when data has been accidentally deleted or overwritten. Using our advanced data recovery software we’re usually able to get most or all of your data recovered.

$59.95 – If we can’t recover your data then there is no charge.

RE: USB external hard drives – sometimes the issue is with a bad USB connector. If we have to open the external case to access the ports inside directly there is an additional fee. ($30.00)

Step Two – Hardware based data recovery

If step one fails, then it’s likely a problem with the drives’ hardware.

In this stage we use our advanced hardware recovery tools to get directly to the data on the platters. This starts by attempting to clone the drive sector by sector to a new drive (priced separately) to reduce the wear and tear on the drive during the actual data recovery attempt.

Price for data cloning is $49.95 plus the cost of the new destination drive.

Step Three – Defective hardware replacement

If step two fails it is probably necessary to replace one or more of the parts inside the drive like read/write heads and armature, motors, circuit boards etc.

Opening a hard drive has to be done in a clean room as any dust that gets on the platters can ruin data access.

NOTE: Once a drive has been opened even in a clean room it will become a suspect drive and future failure is quite likely. It is highly recommended the data be moved to a new drive and the suspect drive taken offline or discarded

This requires finding a donor drive that is an exact match for the drive being repaired and swapping parts. This also means that drive addressing data stored on read-only chips on the board (not your data) be migrated to the donor chip.

Repairs of this nature are very advanced and usually start at $699 and can go up to $2,000. Needless to say this is only done when you absolutely must recover the data.

An estimate can be given once the drive has been assessed in step two. Payment must be made in advance and there are no refunds even if no data is recovered.
